We understand that plans can change unexpectedly. When booking tickets well in advance, it's often uncertain if you'll be available: What if you're abroad? What if your friends can't make it? What if you've overlooked a prior commitment? To address these concerns, Zomato is introducing its innovative ‘Book Now, Sell Anytime’ feature, a pioneering initiative from an Indian ticketing platform.
How It Works:
- Customers can secure tickets to their preferred events as soon as they are available on the Zomato app.
- Should their plans alter, they have the option to list their ticket on the Zomato app at a price either lower or higher than the original purchase price, with a maximum limit of twice the current phase price available on the platform.
- When another customer buys this listed ticket, the original ticket is cancelled and a new ticket is issued to the new buyer, with both transactions authenticated by Zomato.
- The seller will receive the full amount from the listed price, minus any applicable taxes, transferred to their chosen payment method.
To ensure the feature is used appropriately and to prevent potential abuse in the events industry, such as black market touting or unfair pricing, Zomato has implemented several safeguards:
- A customer may purchase up to 10 tickets per category for resale.
- The maximum resale price is capped at twice the current phase price on the Zomato app. If the event is sold out, the cap is set at twice the final phase price.
For instance, if a customer bought an Early Bird ticket for Rs.1000 and the current phase price is Rs.2000, the customer may list their ticket for up to Rs.4000.
We hope this new feature will empower our customers and eliminate the need for second-guessing when booking tickets in advance for events they are enthusiastic about. The feature will launch on the Zomato app on 30th September 2024, beginning with the Zomato Feeding India Concert. This initiative represents another step in our commitment to creating a truly customer-focused platform and fostering growth in the Indian events industry.
We plan to evolve and enhance this feature over time. The feature as it stands today will likely differ from its future iterations, and we invite the industry to engage with us in the spirit of collaborative improvement.
