The Body Shop has unveiled its latest initiative, Spark A Change 2.0, celebrating five years of impactful collaboration with Plastics for Change (PFC). This festive season, the brand introduces an array of bright, inclusive gifting options, including innovative multi-purpose pouches made from recycled plastic.
A New Chapter in Ethical Beauty
The British ethical beauty brand celebrated this milestone by releasing a new digital film featuring actress and model Diana Penty. The launch event included insights from Harmeet Singh, Chief Brand Officer, Quest Retail – The Body Shop, Asia South, and Srinidhi Kashyap, Chief Operations Officer of Plastics for Change, alongside programme beneficiary Deepa, reflecting on the positive impact of their collaboration.
With Spark A Change 2.0, The Body Shop aims to redefine festive gifting by ensuring every purchase supports the livelihoods of marginalised communities in India. The initiative includes a donation drive for e-tricycles for waste collectors, inviting customers to contribute via the brand’s website and at 200 stores across the country.
Capturing the Festive Spirit
The festive spirit is beautifully captured in the promotional video featuring Diana Penty, who embodies positivity while enjoying The Body Shop products and showcasing Plastics for Change merchandise. This campaign encourages consumers to celebrate with purpose and gives back to the community.
Since their partnership began in 2019, The Body Shop and Plastics for Change have created a more ethical and sustainable plastic supply chain, benefiting over 2,000 waste collectors—more than half of whom are women. They have purchased over 2,000 metric tonnes of plastic waste, equivalent to 100 million bottles, contributing significantly to plastic recycling efforts.
Harmeet Singh, Chief Brand Officer, Quest Retail - The Body Shop - Asia South, stated, “We’re elated to launch the Spark A Change 2.0 campaign, which embraces the theme of giving and sharing joy. This film amplifies our partnership's positive impact, showcasing how businesses can drive meaningful change. Over five years, we’ve diverted millions of plastic bottles from landfills and empowered thousands of waste collectors, especially women.”
Andrew Almack, Founder/Chief Executive Officer, Plastics for Change, added, "Our partnership with The Body Shop has been a game-changer for both environmental sustainability and social progress. By creating a fair-trade market for recycled plastic, we have reduced plastic pollution and improved the lives of thousands of waste collectors."
Diana Penty remarked, “I’m proud to be part of the ‘Spark A Change’ initiative, which embodies the joy of giving. Celebrate Diwali with nature-inspired beauty products from The Body Shop and discover ethical gifts to share with loved ones.”
