GroupM, WPP’s global media investment group, has designed a visually impactful outdoor campaign in Kolkata for Skipper Pipes, a leading manufacturer of polymer pipes and fittings. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of water contamination and the importance of using lead-free pipes, drawing inspiration from the ongoing Durga Puja festival.
The initiative, named "India’s Safest Pipes—Festival of Safety," uses the symbolism of Durga Puja to highlight the role of Skipper Pipes in protecting families from water impurities. The campaign features a striking installation of Goddess Durga on a footbridge, with her Trident replacing the traditional weapon with Skipper Pipes. The motorised pipes are shown slaying water impurities, visually emphasising the role of Skipper's lead-free pipes in safeguarding public health, much like the Goddess herself wards off evil forces.
Anirban Pal Chowdhury, Marketing Head at Skipper Pipes, said, “At Skipper Pipes, we believe safety is divine. This outdoor innovation has successfully captured the public's attention, showcasing our commitment to safety while aligning with the traditional, festive spirit of Durga Puja. The installation symbolises our dedication to providing safe water solutions, ensuring a long-lasting impression.”
Ajay Mehta, Managing Director of GroupM OOH Solutions, shared his thoughts on the campaign, stating, “By blending traditional elements with modern infrastructure, this campaign creates a memorable visual impact. The Durga Puja theme was a perfect opportunity to highlight the importance of safe drinking water and the role Skipper Pipes plays in protecting families from contamination.”
Strategically located at high-traffic spots, including the footbridge at E.M. Bypass Ruby Crossing and a unipole at Metropolitan Bypass, the installation is designed to maximise visibility across South and North Kolkata during the festival season. The campaign will run until October 31st, reinforcing the message of water safety with an artistic and culturally relevant visual.
