In a significant step towards improving diabetes care in India, Protinex Diabetes Care has partnered with Apollo Health Co (Apollo 24|7) to launch a campaign aimed at encouraging proactive diabetes testing and management. The initiative, marking World Diabetes Day, offers consumers a complimentary HbA1c test with every purchase of Protinex Diabetes Care, a product designed to support blood sugar control.
The offer, which runs until 30th November 2024, allows customers to schedule a home collection appointment for the HbA1c test through Apollo 24|7, providing a convenient and cost-effective way for individuals to monitor their long-term blood glucose levels. HbA1c testing is considered the gold standard for tracking average blood glucose over the past two to three months, a key metric in managing diabetes effectively.
India, with an estimated 101 million people living with diabetes, is among the countries with the highest rates of the condition. The recent INDIAB study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reveals that 11.4% of India's population is affected by the disease. Proper management of diabetes, which includes regular blood glucose testing and lifestyle changes, is essential in mitigating its health impacts.
Protinex Diabetes Care is marketed as a scientifically formulated product that helps support blood sugar control, with additional benefits such as enhanced immunity and cholesterol reduction. The product's low glycemic index (GI) formula, along with high fibre content, is specifically designed to aid those managing diabetes.
Mr. Sriram Padmanabhan, Marketing Director at Danone India, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting people living with diabetes. "The right nutrition is crucial in the battle against diabetes. It’s not just about managing blood sugar levels but also about early diagnosis and management," he said. "Through this partnership with Apollo Health Co (Apollo 24|7), we hope to make regular health checks more accessible and raise awareness about the importance of protein and fibre in diabetes care."
Madhava Krishna, Vice President of Category at Apollo Health Co (Apollo 24|7), highlighted the role of protein and fibre in diabetes management, stating, “By incorporating these nutrients into daily diets alongside regular health checks, we aim to support individuals in managing their health more effectively.”
As part of the initiative, Protinex Diabetes Care will also feature prominently across Apollo 24|7’s retail stores and digital platforms. In addition, a dedicated toll number has been set up for consumer inquiries about the free HbA1c test and other health services.
This collaboration between Protinex and Apollo 24|7 is a step towards greater awareness and accessibility in diabetes care, aligning with Danone’s mission to promote health through nutrition while ensuring that individuals with diabetes receive the right support in managing their condition.
