Celebrating the timeless bond between rock 'n' roll and motorcycles, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles and BSA Motorcycles proudly announce their continued partnership with Independence Rock, India’s iconic rock 'n' roll festival, which marked its 30th edition this year. This legendary collaboration unites the rebellious spirit of motorcycling with the raw energy of rock music, creating a unique experience for festival-goers.
Widely regarded as the ‘Woodstock of India,’ the two-day festival electrified audiences on November 16th and 17th, 2024, at Mumbai’s historic Bayview Lawns, Princess Dock, Mazagaon. Independence Rock 2024 featured an impressive lineup of India’s finest rock bands, as well as fresh, genre-defying talent from across the nation and beyond. Both Jawa Yezdi and BSA, as iconic brands, share a deep cultural legacy, and this partnership celebrates the shared essence of freedom—an intrinsic value tied to both rock 'n' roll and motorcycling.
In alignment with the Jawa Yezdi Nomads’ philosophy of ‘discovery,’ this year’s Mahindra Independence Rock Festival featured the highly anticipated Jawa Yezdi Stage, which spotlighted the best of India’s emerging rock talent through an exhilarating nationwide band hunt. Over 100 bands competed fiercely, with the top three finalists battling it out for a coveted performance slot. Ultimately, Kolkata’s thrash metal quartet, Dreadhammer, triumphed in the Tomorrow’s Headliners competition, delivering an electrifying performance on the Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Stage over the course of the festival.
Mr. Ashish Singh Joshi, CEO of Classic Legends, shared, “Both rock music and motorcycling emerged as transformative cultural movements in the 1950s, shaping identities and celebrating individuality. At their core, they embody freedom, rebellion, and self-expression. Independence Rock is more than just a festival—it’s a tribute to these shared legacies. Through this partnership, we honour the spirit of discovery, adventure, and nostalgia that defines not only our riders but also the music lovers who continue to challenge conventions and embrace the extraordinary.”
The celebration didn’t end with the music. For the first time in the festival’s 30-year history, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles and BSA Motorcycles elevated the experience with a two-day on-ground contest at Bayview Lawns, attracting over 7,000 music enthusiasts. The festivities culminated with Ronny Sequeira being presented with a Yezdi Roadster by Maharaj Kumar Sahib Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Ji Mewar of Udaipur and Vishal Choudhary, Chief Marketing Officer of Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles and BSA Motorcycles.
