The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled “Whatever It Takes,” the official event song for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. This vibrant track, produced by Bay Music House, features the dynamic all-girl pop group W.i.S.H. alongside acclaimed music director Mikey McCleary and composer Parth Parekh. The single is now available for download and streaming on major platforms globally.
The launch also includes a stunning official music video, showcasing iconic moments from women’s cricket and energising choreography that positions the tournament as a must-watch event.
Blending global pop sounds, “Whatever It Takes” aims to resonate with international audiences and engage younger fans, embodying the spirit of dedication and excellence among elite cricketers. The campaign slogan reflects the journey of champions, highlighting their commitment to the sport.
Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager of Marketing and Communications, stated, “The ICC is committed to making the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 a premier platform for world-class players. This soundtrack not only previews the talent to be showcased but also inspires a new generation of fans.”
Following the success of the 2023 edition in South Africa, which garnered over 190 million global viewing hours—a 44% increase from 2020—the ICC anticipates even greater engagement for the 2024 tournament.
The event kicks off at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE on 3 October 2024, culminating with the Final at Dubai International Stadium on 20 October. All ten participating nations will strive to do “Whatever It Takes” to secure the trophy.
W.i.S.H. expressed their enthusiasm, saying, “We’re incredibly proud to create the official song for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup! Cricket unites people worldwide, and it’s an honour to contribute to such a significant occasion.”
Mikey McCleary added, “We have captured the vibe and energy of a T20 World Cup in this song, and I can't wait for cricket fans everywhere to hear it.”
