In a notable initiative, Flipkart, with the help of the creative genius of Only Much Louder, has launched a campaign offering auto rickshaw rides in Bengaluru for just INR 1. This campaign, which began on September 20, coincides with Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale, aiming to simplify digital payments and alleviate commuting challenges during peak hours.
The collaboration addresses the common issues faced by Bengaluru commuters, particularly the difficulty of finding auto rickshaws that accept digital payments. With local auto rickshaws now equipped with Flipkart’s UPI payment system, riders are encouraged to make cashless transactions, with incentives of up to INR 11 cashback on UPI payments.
Pankaj Malani, SVP, Revenue at Only Much Louder, remarked, “Navigating Bengaluru's traffic during peak hours while finding auto rickshaws that accept digital payments can often feel like winning the lottery. Recognising this need, we collaborated with Flipkart to ideate and craft this campaign by leveraging the platform’s UPI payment feature to showcase how Flipkart UPI enhances everyday experiences for commuters."
The campaign quickly gained attention through an extensive outdoor advertising strategy, featuring engaging banners across strategic locations in the city. Within just an hour of its launch, there was a notable increase in ride bookings, highlighting the initiative’s effectiveness in tackling daily commuting issues while promoting the convenience of digital payments.
With this innovative approach, OML and Flipkart are not only transforming urban commuting but also fostering a culture of cashless transactions, reflecting the broader trend towards digital payments in India.
