Global Success for Non-English Content
James Farrell, Vice President of International Originals at Prime Video, commented, “The success of Citadel: Honey Bunny demonstrates the continued global appeal of our non-English language Originals. It’s fantastic to see Indian content resonating with viewers worldwide.”
Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals for Prime Video India, added, “This success is a testament to how local narratives can capture global attention. The response has been overwhelmingly positive in India, and we are thrilled to see this action spy thriller topping global charts.”
Director’s Take on the Show’s Success
Directed by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), the series combines thrilling espionage action with a dash of nostalgia. The creators expressed their excitement, saying, “It’s been a truly enriching experience working on a project that connects with such a wide audience. We’ve enjoyed incorporating easter eggs and references to 90s cinema into the world of Honey Bunny, and we’re thrilled with the response, both domestically and internationally.”
A Collaborative Effort
Angela Russo-Otstot, Executive Producer at AGBO, noted, “We’re incredibly proud of the work done on Citadel: Honey Bunny. It’s a fun, fast-paced spy series, and the performances by Samantha and Varun Dhawan truly bring it to life. We’re honoured to collaborate with such exceptional creatives on this distinctive series.”
The series is produced by D2R Films, Amazon MGM Studios, and executive produced by the Russo Brothers' AGBO. Citadel: Honey Bunny is written by Sita R. Menon, along with Raj & DK, and forms part of the broader Citadel universe, which includes other series such as Citadel: Diana and the upcoming Citadel Season 2.
