"Don’t Let That Breathtaking Shot Get Literal"—this message is central to Canon India’s new initiative, which has generated interest and discussion. In honour of World Photography Day, Canon India, a prominent name in digital imaging, has introduced the '#CaptureWithCare' digital campaign.
This initiative aims to remind photographers of the importance of prioritising safety. The campaign is designed to educate the community about responsible photography practices, ensuring that the art remains both enjoyable and safe.
With social media trends often pushing for dramatic content, there has been a concerning rise in risky photography practices. Reports show that many young social media users and influencers are endangering themselves for the perfect shot, seeking to gain followers and approval. In India, where social media use is rapidly growing among its 1.4 billion people, this trend is particularly alarming. For instance, Uttarakhand has seen a 63% increase in train track accidents over the past two years due to selfie-related incidents, highlighting the need for safer practices.
The #CaptureWithCare campaign was launched in two phases. The first phase involved teaser posts on Canon India’s social media platforms, designed to generate interest and awareness. The second phase featured a compelling video released on World Photography Day across various social media channels—including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube. This video contrasts the beauty of photography with the dangers of unsafe practices, reinforcing that photography should enhance life, not pose a risk.
Canon India, committed to both creativity and safety, continues to support a culture where photographers can capture beautiful moments without compromising their well-being or that of others.
