In celebration of its centenary, British Airways has released a touching video featuring 100 India-based colleagues, collectively representing over 800 years of service with the airline. The video marks the airline’s 100-year anniversary of flying between London and Delhi, capturing a heartwarming sense of camaraderie among staff.
The video, which shows the colleagues coming together to form a giant '100' on a lawn, highlights the strong family spirit that British Airways is known for. The colleagues, some of whom have worked with the airline for over 30 years, joyously complete the formation while waving to the camera in a moment of shared celebration.
Among those featured in the video are Renu Arya, a cabin crew member with over 35 years at British Airways, and Aparna Malhotra, who has been with the airline for more than 30 years and currently manages the day-to-day operations across the five Indian cities the airline serves.
Lisa Tremble, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at British Airways, expressed pride in the milestone: "This video perfectly captures what it means to be a British Airways colleague – it’s about celebrating each and every individual’s originality and coming together to create something truly special. Our people are our greatest asset, and we are so proud to have more than 2,500 colleagues based in India – our largest colleague base outside of the UK."
British Airways’ centenary celebrations extend beyond the video. On November 10, the airline made history with its first-ever flight from Delhi to London staffed entirely by Indian-origin cabin crew. In addition, new voiceovers recorded by Indian colleagues can be heard at both Indian airports and at London Heathrow, offering a more localised experience for travellers.
Customers flying with British Airways this month can also enjoy specially curated centenary menus, featuring items such as ‘Masala Chai’, and over 100 new Indian inflight entertainment options.
Additionally, the airline launched a new TV advert and brand campaign specifically targeted to the Indian market, marking its first in over eight years. Titled ‘Family in the Skies’, the campaign showcases more than 100 Indian colleagues as the stars of the ad, airing across the airline’s routes in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore.
