Life as an entrepreneur means working round the clock with limited time for oneself. However, I’ve always had a fundamental desire to explore my creative voice. I was 20 when I bought my first piece of art. I vividly remember saving my pocket money for months to be able to buy a piece of art, which brought me immense joy. Learning the nuances of art and photography has been a journey in itself, one that has offered me the opportunity to meet and support different local artists and capture cherished moments. Photography has helped me to approach life and everyday situations differently, and has taught me to dream and do what the mind can imagine.
It is true that I’ve recently delved into understanding the intricacies of art and photography. However, my initial tryst with photography began at school whilst experimenting with the basic SLR. Once I started working, photography took a backseat. The lockdown during the pandemic gave me a chance to go back to my passion and capture moments that would’ve otherwise gotten lost.
While my passion gives me a break from my hectic schedule, it has also helped me in my entrepreneurial journey. Art has allowed me to develop diverse perspectives. It is interesting to note how everyone has a different ‘nazariya’ while observing a piece of art, and that is what makes it special – unravelling the very many human emotions and discovering beauty in the mundane. Over the years, learning about the stories associated with artwork and artists has helped me gain a deeper insight into life and my businesses. Like art, photography is all about how you frame the picture and capture it at the right time. In my experience, one photograph clicked at the right moment can be worth a million. However, another photograph of the same situation captured in a different moment would just be a photograph.
In fact, over the years, dabbling in art and photography has allowed me to acknowledge that we are beings filled with infinite possibilities, and has encouraged me to dream, think, and live differently. This infinity mindset has also enabled me to create an impact in the lives of fellow Indians through my ventures – Modicare, which is built on the ethos of empowering infinite lives with infinite possibilities; 24Seven, a round-the-clock convenience store that has changed the organised retail industry in India, and largely altered India’s shopping habits by making products and food available 24 hours, 365 days a year; and Colorbar Cosmetics that has democratised beauty. Finding and deciphering different perspectives communicated through the vibrant frolics of artwork from all over the world has been a fascinating process. As I reflect upon my journey, I cannot help but mention that these art forms have given me an altogether fresh outlook on life’s experiences.
