Star Plus has announced its second season of TED Talks India Nayi Baat, in collaboration with TED, a non-profit that organises speeches from experts on a range of issues. The show will be aired on Star Plus in Hindi, and at the same time on Star World in English, and in Tamil, Bangla and Telugu on National Geographic, which has feeds on the languages.
“The crux of this season is that we are creating it in Hindi. It is essentially for Star Plus,” says Gaurav Banerjee, President & Head of Hindi GEC, Star India, adding that the other languages will help increase footprints. “We are really optimistic about this season. This year, we will air it at 9.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. That will bring in a lot more viewers,”
he says.
The show will feature 26 change makers, across 7 episodes, and will go on air post the festive season. Sanjay Gupta, Country Manager, Star & Disney India says, “It starts in early November and it goes for a full month. So making it tight and in a short period, we believe is a good way to offer the consumers to start to chew on it.”
Juliet Blake, Head of TV, TED Talks, noted a production aspect specific to mobile audiences. “We have many cameras, but often, when the speaker is saying the most important part of that idea, I want them to be on a close up. So if somebody is listening, or watching on a small screen they’re going to be able to get it as well,” says Blake.
